My friend Nate is taking a class on experimental interface design. He opted to build an electonic music controller of his own design. The result was the Bovalve. Its an experimental physical interface for a synthesizer, so I'm not sure how playable and practical it is yet, but is super-cool none the less.

According to Nate, the Bovalve combines
"the concept of pitch from a trumpet, and the expression of a violin bow, and (you) get this: four fingers, a squeeze control, and two thumbs to change (the) sounds."
